Youth Olympic Games gold medallist Manu Bhaker and reigning men’s 10m air rifle world champion Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil will lead a strong 34-member Indian contingent at the ISSF World Cup 2023 for rifle/pistol shooters in Baku, Azerbaijan, starting from Wednesday.
The competition in Baku is the penultimate stage of the ISSF World Cup for rifle/pistol shooters. The final stage will be held at the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro before the ISSF World Championships take place in November at Doha.
Manu Bhaker will be competing in her pet 10m and 25m pistol shooting events. Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, in 10m air rifle, will look for his second gold medal of the year in the individual category after acing Stage 2 in Cairo.
Last year, Rudrankksh Patil secured a quota place for India for the Paris 2024 Olympics by winning gold at the world championships. He will be joined by Divyansh Singh Panwar at the Baku meet.
ISSF World Cup gold medallist Swapnil Kusale will compete in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions. He also earned a Paris 2024 quota place for India by finishing fourth at last year’s world championships. He will be joined by Olympian Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions competition.
Tokyo Olympian Anjum Moudgil, meanwhile, will lead India’s challenge in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions. World junior championships silver medallist Esha Singh (women’s pistol) and former junior world champion Elavenil Valarivan (women’s rifle) are some of the other established shooters in the Indian team.
In the overall 2023 ISSF World Cup standings, India are fourth with three golds and four bronze. China, with seven golds and two silvers, top the table.
The ISSF World Cup Baku 2023 will conclude on May 14.

Live streaming of the ISSF World Cup 2023 Baku will be available on Olympics.com. Only the finals of each event will be streamed live. There will be no live telecast of the event on any TV channel in India.
