The dates for the playoffs and final of the Indian Super League (ISL) 2022-23 season were announced on Friday.
Unlike the previous seasons of India’s premier football league, where the top four teams after the league stage made the double-legged semi-finals, ISL 2022-23 will follow a revamped format.
The top two teams will automatically qualify for the semi-finals while the teams finishing between third and sixth on the ISL 2022-23 points table will play in single-legged knockout matches to determine the other two semi-finalists.
The ISL semi-finals will be played over two legs and the two eventual winners will qualify for the ISL final, to be played on March 18.
So far, former winners Mumbai City FC and defending champions Hyderabad FC have already confirmed their spots in the knockout rounds while there’s a fierce battle underway for the remaining four spots.
The (knockout) playoffs will start on March 3 while the semi-finals will be played on March 7 and 9.
The ISL 2022-23 league stages will conclude on February 26.
The higher-placed teams (third and fourth) will host the knockout matches. The semi-finals, meanwhile, will follow the traditional home-away format.
