Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Yashaswini Singh Deswal will eye medals in the women’s 10m air pistol at the Tokyo Olympics on Sunday morning.
The 24-year-old Yashaswini ranks No. 1 in the world while Manu Bhaker, 19, is in the second spot. Both shooters will be making their Olympics debut at Tokyo 2020 and are medal favourites.
"To win the Olympic gold medal, I have been really working really hard for the past five years now, and it has always been my dream," Manu Bhaker has said.
Yashaswini Singh Deswal and Manu Bhaker won gold and silver, respectively, at the New Delhi World Cup in March but returned empty-handed from the Croatian leg of the World Cup in June.
In Tokyo, the youngsters will be up against a field of multiple champions at the Asaka Shooting Range.
The Indian duo will be challenged by Rio 2016 silver medallist Vitalina Batsarashkina of the ROC and bronze medallist Anna Korakaki from Greece.
The day begins with the qualification round after which the top eight shooters advance to the final.
