Archery at Tokyo Olympics: India's eyes on Deepika Kumari - watch live

World No. 1 Deepika Kumari will be leading the four-member Indian archery team at the Tokyo Olympics and is a favourite to return with a medal based on her current form.

The 27-year-old Deepika will be accompanied by husband Atanu Das, Tarundeep Rai and Pravin Jadhav in Tokyo, with an aim to win the first archery medal for India at the Olympics.

India will be represented in four events - men’s individual, men’s team, women’s individual and mixed team events. Watch Olympics archery live in India!

However, there won’t be an Indian women’s team for the first time since the 2000 Sydney Games.

Deepika Kumari, the lone female archer from India, confirmed her Tokyo berth by winning the Asian Continental Qualification Tournament in Bangkok in 2019.

The men secured a quota after winning a team silver medal at the 2019 Archery World Championships in the Netherlands, making them eligible to compete in the individual event.

Just before heading into Tokyo 2020, Deepika Kumari reached the top of the women’s ranking after winning three gold medals at the stage 3 of the Archery World Cup in Paris. She will be making her third Olympic appearance in Tokyo.

South Korea are the defending champions in all events except the mixed team, which makes its Olympic debut in Tokyo.

The ranking round starts on July 23 for both men and women. All archery events will be held at the Yumenoshima Final Field in Tokyo.
