Hanyu Yuzuru returns home this week to Miyagi Prefecture for a new rendition of his self-produced ensemble ice show, 'notte stellata.'
Notte stellata arrives off the heels of his RE_PRAY tour through Saitama, Saga and Yokohama, for which shows in Miyagi on 7 and 9 April were added on Wednesday (6 March).
Notte stellata - Italian for starry night - is Hanyu's homage to all those impacted by the M9.1 Great East Japan Earthquake on 11 March 2011, which was coupled by a tsunami and a nuclear power-plant disaster.
This year's cast features several holdovers from last year's performance - Hanyu's former choreographer Shae-Lynn Bourne Turok and former training mate Jason Brown, as well as his Japanese peers Miyahara Satoko, Suzuki Akiko, Tanaka Keiji, Mura Takahito and Hongo Rika.
The marquee new face internationally is another one of the two-time Olympic gold medallist's stablemates, former world champion Javier Fernandez who Hanyu shared the podium with at PyeongChang 2018 Games.
Fans from Japan will be enamoured by the addition of actress Daichi Mao, a one-time top star of the famed all-female troupe, Takarazuka Revue.
In 2023, Hanyu collaborated with special guest and three-time gymnastics Olympic champion Uchimura Kohei.
Below is how to watch notte stellata 2024 from 8-10 March at Sekisui Heim Super Arena in Rifu, just outside of Hanyu's hometown Sendai.
