Modern Pentathlon
The 2022 UIPM Modern Pentathlon World Championships get underway in Alexandria on Saturday (23 July) with the first medals decided in the men's relay on Monday.
Olympic champion Joe Choong is bidding for a first world crown with brother Henry also flying the flag for Team GB.
France's Rio 2016 silver medallist and recent World Cup Final season winner Elodie Clouvel is among the favourites for the women's title.
With Choong's fellow Tokyo 2020 gold medallist Kate French absent, her fellow Briton Jessica Varley is fancied to challenge for a medal, while Michelle Gulyas of Hungary and Italy's 2019 silver medallist Elena Micheli are very much respected.
The men's event looks open too with Korean Seo Changwan and Hungary's Csaba Bohm top contenders after finishing second and third respectively in the World Cup series ahead of Joe Choong in fourth.
Hungary. Germany and Korea look set to battle for men's team gold with the Germans favourites in the women's team event.
The men's and women's relays look tough to predict while hosts Egypt will fancy their chances in the final event of the week, the mixed relay, next Sunday.
