Alpine skiing great Lindsey Vonn will return to competition in a World Cup event this weekend (21–22 December) in St. Moritz, Switzerland, for the first time in almost six years.

Vonn's last race on the sport's premier circuit was on 20 January 2019, when she revealed severe pain in her knee after failing to finish the Super G in Cortina d'Ampezzo, Italy.

After announcing her comeback last month, the 40-year-old competed in four FIS races at Copper Mountain, Colorado, before serving as a forerunner ahead of the downhill and Super G World Cup events in Beaver Creek last weekend.

Vonn has won five World Cup races on the Corviglia course, with her last victory there dating back to January 2015. She also claimed downhill bronze at the 2017 World Championships on the same slope.
