World number one Iga Swiatek will get her 2024 Australian Open campaign underway on Day 3 of the year's first tennis Grand Slam.

The Polish superstar, who has drawn Sofia Kenin for her first-round opening match on Rod Laver, is one of the favourites to win the overall title in Melbourne having gone 17-1 since exiting the US Open in the fourth round as defending champion.

Another favourite will round out the action on the headline court with Carlos Alcaraz in action against France's Richard Gasquet.

The 20-year-old Spaniard is held to be one of the only challengers capable of stopping Novak Djokovic going for an eye-watering 11th Australian Open crown.

In between Swiatek and Alcaraz are a string of enticing prospects with Denmark's Holger Rune in action before number three seed Elena Rybakina takes on Karolina Pliskova in the first match of the evening session.

Two-time Grand Slam finalist Casper Ruud will begin his Australian Open campaign on Margaret Court against Spain's Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the opening match of the day.

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Alexander Zverev follows later at 19:00 before American fifth seed Jessica Pegula takes on Canadian qualifier Rebecca Marino.
