In less than a week, the WNBA playoffs will start, and basketball fans will get a chance to see how Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever handle the pressure of the postseason. Games start on Sunday, 22 September, with the Fever likely playing on the road due to their seed in the postseason.

Clark was turning heads in the basketball world before she even began in the WNBA, as she led her Iowa Hawkeyes to two NCAA Final Fours. Since being drafted first overall by the Fever earlier this year, Clark has been someone to watch in the WNBA. She broke scoring and assist records, and most importantly, helped her team make it to the playoffs.

This is the first time the Indiana Fever has qualified for the postseason since 2016. While the 2023 team, led by Rookie of the Year Aliyah Boston and All-Star Kelsey Mitchell, came close to making the playoffs, they fell short. Fortunately, they were able to get the first pick in the draft, and adding Clark turned the team into a contender. Though they struggled to find their footing early, Clark, Boston and Mitchell used the Olympic break to help improve the team. It’s worked, as they have put together a record of 9-4 since the WNBA season restarted.

As there are three more days in the WNBA season, the final playoff berth and pairings are still to be determined. If the current standings hold, the Fever will be the sixth seed and face the Connecticut Sun in the first round. Indiana has a 1-3 record against the Sun, with those three losses coming in the first month of the WNBA season. The one win was at the end of August in Connecticut.

Caitlin Clark’s full WNBA playoff schedule

Though seeding and the final playoff berth are still being decided, the WNBA has announced the dates for every round of the playoffs. The first round of the playoffs is best of three series, while the semi-finals and finals are best of five. The higher seed hosts the first two games in the first round, while the lower seed hosts the third game (if that game is necessary.)
