The 2021 UCI BMX Supercross World Cup season returns this weekend in Sakarya, Turkey, as the 2021 campaign reaches its climax – and you can watch it all live on Olympics.com and the Olympics YouTube page.

Rounds 5 and 6 of the annual BMX racing circuit take place on 23 and 24 October, before next weekend's season-enders – also in Sakarya – on 30 and 31 October.

The season previously held two rounds each in Verona, Italy – won by Simon Marquart, Judy Baauw, David Graf, and Laura Smulders – and Bogotá, Colombia – where Joris Daudet and Mariana Pajón (both winning two races) were victorious – in May.

With 150 points on offer per win, the four remaining rounds offer lots of opportunity for riders to catch the current overall leaders, France's Arthur Pilard on 335 in the men's standings and Colombian Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Pajón on 410 in the women's.

Two of Pilard's teammates, Romain Mahieu and Daudet, are within 25 points of him, while Pajón leads Russia's Natalya Afremova only on a tiebreaker.

UCI BMX Supercross World Cup Sakarya: Who's taking part

Ahead of the four rounds in Sakarya, which is hosting the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup for the first time, the three Frenchmen occupy the top positions in the men's standings, with Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist Carlos Ramírez of Colombia also level with Daudet on 300 points.

However, Pilard is not entered for Rounds 5 and 6, which opens the door for one of Mahieu, Daudet, or Ramírez to overtake him for the lead. Switzerland's Marquart and Cedric Butti, the next two in the standings, will also be present – but Olympic champion Niek Kimmann of the Netherlands and Britain's silver medallist from Tokyo Kye Whyte are both skipping the event.

On the women's side, Pajón and Afremova will continue their tussle for the overall lead, but American Payton Ridenour and France's Camille Maire – the next two in the standings — will both be aiming to close that gap.

Also in action in Sakarya will be the Smulders sisters of the Netherlands, Laura and Merel, who between them have won an Olympic bronze (Merel) and world bronze medal (Laura) this year.

And don't forget the under-23 racers, as the inaugural season of the World Cup in that category approaches the finish.
