American Helen Maroulis captured her third world title Thursday (7 October) at the World Wrestling Championships in Oslo, Norway. She defeated India's Anshu Malik, whose silver medal is a first in her career at the worlds.

Maroulis won 4-1 in the final, earning a victory by fall. The 30-year-old has had a storied career with an Olympic gold at Rio 2016 in the 53kg weight class and a bronze medal this summer at Tokyo 2020 in the 57kg category. Her third world title comes after having previously captured gold in 2015 (55kg) and 2017 (58kg). She won silver in 2012 (55kg) and bronze in 2014 (55kg).

In the 59kg division, Maroulis' teammate Maya Nelson was defeated by Mongolia's Shoovdor Baararjav in the bronze medal match.
