Indian squash prodigy Anahat Singh claimed her third title of the year after winning the women’s singles crown at the HCL Squash Tour Chennai 2024 on Saturday.

Anahat Singh, who turned 16 this March, is still undefeated this year. The Asian Games bronze medallist won the JSW Willingdon Little Masters and Senior Tournament in January before claiming the Hamdard Squashters Northern Slam PSA Challenger squash tournament in April.

The teenager beat fellow Indian squash player Rathika Suthanthira Seelan 3-0 (11-5, 11-3, 11-3) in the final at the Indian Squash Academy in Chennai to mark a hat-trick of titles. Seelan had won the indoor leg of the HCL Squash Tour 2024, a tournament Anahat had skipped.

En route to the Chennai crown, Anahat didn’t drop a single game, defeating all her opponents by 3-0 margins. She triumphed over fifth seed Janet Vidhi in the semis to make the title decider.

Top seed Anahat had defeated eighth seed Shameena Riaz in the quarter-finals and Aryaa Dwivedi in the second round after receiving a bye in the opening round.

In the men’s singles event, Sri Lankan top seed Ravindu Laksiri clinched the title after receiving a walk over in the final against Indian second seed Rahul Baitha, who reportedly failed to turn up for his match within the stipulated time.

Laksiri had also won the indore leg of the HCL Squash Tour 2024 after beating India’s Om Semwal in the final.
