Double Olympic champion Hanyu Yuzuru opens a YouTube channel following retirement from competitive figure skating

"Nice to meet you" is the title of the first post from the man who won two consecutive Olympic gold medals in figure skating men's singles.

Two-time Olympic champion Hanyu Yuzuru delighted fans on Sunday (7th August 2022) by announcing that he had opened his official YouTube channel "HANYU YUZURU".

The Japanese figure skating legend, who won men's singles figure skating gold medals at the Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, retired from competitive skating in July.

Hanyu's first YouTube video is titled "Nice to meet you.", in which the 27-year-old explained that he opened the channel with the aim of delivering his skating and performances, including forthcoming exhibition events and professional shows, to more people.

"I don't know if I can meet everyone's expectations, but I will continue to do my best in skating. And I will do my best so that you can feel the meaning of what you see. I look forward to working with you." Yuzuru Hanyu on his official YouTube channel.

As of noon on August 8, Japan time, the video had been viewed more than 1.1 million times and the channel has more than 310,000 subscribers.
