International Handball Federation announces hosts for 2029 and 2031 World Championships

Today (16 April), the International Handball Federation (IHF) announced the hosts for the 2029 and 2031 editions of the IHF Men’s & Women's World Championships.

On the women's side, the championships will be held in Spain (2029) and co-hosted by Czechia and Poland in 2031.

For the men, the 2029 competition will be co-hosted by France and Germany, with the triumvirate of Denmark, Iceland and Norway staging the 2031 championships.

The IHF released the news ahead of the draw for the Paris 2024 Olympic handball tournaments, which will take place today (16 April) at 17:30 CEST.

Who are the hosts of the next editions of the men's handball world championships?

Denmark, Norway and Croatia were announced as the co-hosts of the 2025 Men's World Championships earlier this month (8 April), while the 2027 edition will take place in Germany. The hosts for the next four tournaments are thus as follows:

  • 2025: Croatia/Denmark/Norway
  • 2027: Germany
  • 2029: France/Germany
  • 2031: Denmark/Iceland/Norway

Who are the hosts of the next editions of the women's handball world championships?

The 2025 and 2027 Women's World Championships will be hosted by Germany/Netherlands and Hungary, respectively. The hosts for the next four tournaments are as follows:

  • 2025: Germany/Netherlands
  • 2027: Hungary
  • 2029: Spain
  • 2031: Czechia/Poland
