Olympic champions Rebeca Andrade, Jade Carey and Artem Dolgopyat advance at Paris World Challenge Cup

The competition is being held at the venue that will host action at Paris 2024 with finals set for Sunday, 25 September

Olympic artistic gymnastics champions Rebeca Andrade, Jade Carey and Artem Dolgopyat advanced to the finals of the Paris World Challenge Cup during the qualifying round Saturday (24 September). The finals are set for Sunday (25 September). The competition is being held in Accor Arena, which will play host to gymnastics competition at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

In the preliminary competition, Carey topped the women's vault standings, Andrade the uneven bars, and Dolgopyat the men's floor.

On the vault, Carey performed a double-twisting Yurchenko and a Cheng to average 14.350. American teammate Jordan Chiles, a Tokyo 2020 team silver medallist, was second at 13.950, followed by France's Coline Devillard (13.825).

Andrade was the class of the field on the uneven bars, performing her typical high-flying routine for a 14.600. Lisa Vaelen of Belgium and Canada's Ellie Black posted matching 13.900s with Vaelen taking the second spot and Black third after a tie break.

Shilese Jones of the United States was the top scorer on the balance beam, earning a 13.450. Teammate Carey was right behind at 13.400, followed by hometown favourite Melanie de Jesus dos Santos of France at 13.250.

The top qualifier for women's floor exercise was Brazil's Flavia Saraiva, a two-time Olympian. She posted a 13.800, ahead of Chiles (13.500) and Team GB's Jennifer Gadirova. (13.100). Gadirova is a team bronze medallist from Tokyo.

In the men's competition, Dolgopyat was .700 better than second place's Tang Chia-Hung on the floor exercise, 14.950 to 14.250.

Ireland's Rhys McClenaghan (15.000) holds a narrow lead of Japan's Tsumura Ryota (14.900) on the pommel horse, while Turkey's Adel Asil leads the still rings standings at 14.900.

Brazil finished 1-2 in the men's vault standings behind Caio Souza's 14.525 average and Yuri Guimaraes, who earned a final score of 14.400. Dolgopyat is third at 14.375.

2020 Olympian and 2021 world bronze high bar bronze medallist Brody Malone of the U.S. scored 14.500 on the parallel bars to lead the way in qualifying. France's Cameron-Lie Bernard (14.500) and Mathias Philippe (14.450) finished in second and third, respectively.

Cyprus' Marios Georgiou earned a 14.450 to land in the top spot on the horizontal bar, ahead of Malone's 14.400. Brazilian Arthur Nory, the 2019 world champion on the event, is third at 14.300.
