Sydney 2000 Men's Javelin Final

Chasing his third consecutive gold medal in men's javelin and attempting to beat his 1992 Olympic record, Jan Zelezny came into Sydney 2000 as one of the red-hot favourites. However, he faced stiff competition from Great Britain's three-time European Champion Steve Backley. The Czech athlete opened the final with a 89.41m throw but in the second round Backley broke the Olympic Record with a 89.85m throw. Could Zelezny break the new Olympic Record and clinch gold?
