The fifth ISU Grand Prix event of the 2023-24 figure skating season was Grand Prix Espoo (17–18 November) in the suburbs of Helsinki, Finland.
Skaters were looking to earn points for December's Grand Prix Final.
Two-time and reigning world champion Sakamoto Kaori did just that, booking her spot in Beijing for the Final with a win in the women's event. Her Japanese compatriot Miura Kao won his first Grand Prix gold in a thrilling men's event, the victory helping to secure his spot at the Final, as well.
In pairs, the new German duo of Fabienne Minerva Hase and Nikita Volodin won the title in their GP debut, while ice dance world champs Madison Chock and Evan Bates claimed a sixth Grand Prix gold - and a ticket to Beijing, too.
