Loh Kean Yew will look to get his badminton season back on track and register a third quarter-final appearance of the year at the 2023 German Open this week in Mülheim from 7–11 March 2023.
After back-to-back last-eight finishes at the Malaysia and India Opens to start the season, the world number eight was eliminated in the round of 16 at the Indonesia Masters.
At the recent Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships, Loh played only one match – losing it in three games to Republic of Korea's Lee Yun-gyu – as Singapore were eliminated in the group stage.
In Mülheim, Loh will face India's Mithun Manjunath in the opening round, before possibly facing Cheam Jun Wei of Malaysia or Nishimoto Kenta of Japan in the last 16.
Should he progress to the quarter-finals, former world number 1 Momota Kento could await.
