The Athlete Role Models (ARMs) programme has always been an important part of the Youth Olympic Games, starting at the first ever YOG in Singapore. It will be no different at the third Winter Youth Olympic Games, Lausanne 2020, set to begin on 9 January 2020. The Athlete Role Models are selected by the International Federations whose sports will be featured at Lausanne 2020. They will be on hand to talk, encourage, mentor and help all the brilliant athletes who have made it to Lausanne 2020.

The ARMs will engage and share their experiences with the athletes in the Youth Olympic Village, at training and competition venues, and during a series of educational activities and workshops, as well as helping out with sports initiations.

The five ARMs announced today are all among the best in their respective sports:

Speaking about her appointment, Florence Schelling said: “I was lucky in my career to be able to benefit from elite athletes’ advice and support. Through these positive experiences, I developed a passion to help others achieve their dreams. In my role as an ARM I want to help the young athletes in any way possible, including showing them the importance of having fun along the way no matter how bumpy the road gets.”
