India will compete against Belgium, Canada and former champions Germany in Pool C of the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup 2023 in Santiago, Chile starting from Wednesday.
In its 10th edition, the FIH Hockey Women's Junior World Cup will be a 12-day event for under-21 players at Centro Deportivo de Hockey Cesped. India’s matches will be available on live streaming and live telecast in India.
Sixteen teams, divided equally into four groups (A–D), will participate in the junior women’s hockey World Cup. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarter-finals while the other teams will enter classification rounds.
India will begin their hockey World Cup campaign in Pool C against Canada on Wednesday before taking on last edition’s finalists Germany on the following day and Belgium on Saturday.
Defending champions the Netherlands, the most successful team with four titles, are in Pool A with Australia. Two-time champions Argentina are in Pool B. England and Japan will compete for supremacy in Pool D.

India will be led by defender Preeti, who was part of the Indian hockey team that finished fourth last year under the captaincy of Tokyo Olympian Salima Tete. Forward Mumtaz Khan will also be playing in her second Junior World Cup.
Midfielder Rutuja Dadaso Pisal, standby in the last World Cup, will be the vice-captain of the Indian team for the Santiago hockey meet. Annu, who played a crucial role in India’s maiden Women’s Junior Asia Cup title win in June, is also in the squad.
The quarter-finals will be held on December 6 whereas the semis are scheduled for December 8, followed by the final on December 10.
India have appeared in five editions of the junior global event and claimed their best finish in 2013 with bronze. They lost the bronze medal match in the shootout against England last year in South Africa.
