We have officially reached the crucial phase of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, with just 16 teams remaining after a captivating group stage.

Germany, Canada, Brazil, and Italy are among the teams who suffered shock early exits, making the Australia & New Zealand 2023 edition appear as one of the most open competitions to date.

Morocco pulled off one of the most remarkable stories of the group stages, advancing to the knockout rounds alongside Colombia. Meanwhile, European Championship finalists Germany stumbled against the Republic of Korea, finishing third.

Japan have been one of the tournament's surprise packages. While the buildup suggested a lack of cutting edge, something seems to have clicked for them Down Under.

The United States, meanwhile, have been underwhelming so far and came inches away from elimination by Portugal in the final group game. However, their hopes for a ‘three-peat’ remain alive.

As we advance into the knockout rounds, there are plenty of mouth-watering clashes to sink your teeth into.

Before that, though, we’re taking a look at the key numbers behind each nation’s campaign so far…
