As we draw closer to the FIFA Women's World Cup 2023, our group-by-group preview continues, shedding light on the eight captivating groups that will set the stage for the football event commencing on July 20.

Group H, the final group of the tournament, brings together Germany, Morocco, Republic of Korea, and Colombia.

Germany, fresh from their European Championship final appearance, enter the group as clear favorites. The Germans, eager to rectify their early exit in the 2019 quarterfinals, will be determined to assert their dominance and emerge victorious in Group H.

However, they face a formidable challenge in the form of Morocco, who are poised to etch their name in history as the first-ever Arab team to participate in a FIFA Women's World Cup. Morocco's journey in the tournament will be closely watched as they seek to make a resounding statement on the global stage.

Joining Germany and Morocco in Group H are Colombia and Republic of Korea, both teams driven by a burning desire to excel on the biggest stage of world football. With immense talent and aspirations of leaving a lasting impact, Colombia and Republic of Korea will provide fierce competition.

Women’s Football World Cup 2023: Group H Preview

Germany enter the FIFA Women's World Cup as firm favourites to claim the top spot in Group H after their narrow miss at European Championship glory in 2022.

While the Germans have never faced any of their three Group H opponents in the past, their consistent performances throughout their history suggest a favorable outcome.

Building on their European Championship campaign, Germany began their preparations for this summer's tournament with a series of fixtures against some of the world's strongest teams. They secured impressive 2-1 friendly victories against France and the United States but also faced 2-1 defeats against Brazil and the US..

Germany will kick off Group H’s fixtures with the most tantalising match-up of the group against Morocco on July 24, 2023.

Morocco, making history as the first Arab team to qualify for a FIFA Women's World Cup, will aim to replicate their success in the WAFCON tournament last year, where they reached the final.

Led by head coach Reynald Pedros, who clinched The Best FIFA Women's Coach award in 2018 for his accomplishments with French club Lyon, the Atlas Lionesses will be eager to make their mark. Despite some less favorable results towards the end of 2022, Morocco managed victories against Slovakia and Bosnia and Herzegovina earlier this year.

Colombia cemented their place in a Women’s World Cup for the third time, following an impressive Copa America Feminina 2022 campaign on home soil.

Having missed out in 2019, Colombia will be all the more determined to capitalize on this opportunity.

Despite losing to Brazil in the final of the Copa America Feminina 2022, Las Chicas Superpoderosa ended 2022 on a high note, clinching six consecutive friendly wins against Costa Rica, Paraguay and Zambia.

They also finished as runners-up in this year's Women's Revelations Cup, defeating Nigeria and drawing against Mexico and Costa Rica. The upcoming tournament marks the first time Colombia will face Germany, Morocco, and Korea Republic, and their campaign will kick off against the latter on July 25, 2023.

Fresh from their historic campaign at the 2022 AFC Women's Asian Cup, Republic of Korea will be looking to replicate their success this summer.

The team finished as runners-up in last year's AFC Women's Asian Cup, marking their first appearance in the final of a major competition and their best tournament result to date.
Despite a strong finish to 2022, including a 1-0 friendly victory over co-hosts New Zealand and a 1-1 draw shortly after, Korea Republic had a disappointing start to 2023, finishing last at the Arnold Clark Cup with defeats against England, Belgium, and Italy.

However, the Taegeuk Ladies demonstrated their prowess by scoring ten goals across two fixtures against Zambia in April 2023. They still have one more friendly match against newcomers Haiti before commencing their World Cup campaign.

Women’s World Cup 2023: Group H players to watch

Linda Caicedo

At age 14, Linda Caicedo had already been named the top scorer of Colombia’s domestic league.

That same year, she went on to make her senior national team debut.

Now, at just 18 years old, Caicedo shoulders the weight of a nation's expectations as one of Colombia's most thrilling players to date.

Earlier this year, Caicedo made a significant move to the Spanish giants Real Madrid, following a successful three-year tenure with Deportivo Cali in Colombia. Her time with Deportivo Cali saw her clinch the Liga Feminina Profesional de Futbol Colombiano title, while notching an impressive 16 goals in 37 games.

Caicedo's rise continued to gain momentum with her standout performances at the South American U-17 Women's Championship in March 2022, which earned her a call-up to the senior national team. She further strengthened her reputation by claiming the Golden Ball at the Copa America Femenina last year. Remarkably, she then showcased her talents on the global stage at the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup just last August. Now, she is poised to make her senior Women's World Cup debut, marking her third World Cup appearance within a year.

As Colombia faces formidable opposition in Group H, Caicedo undoubtedly emerges as a beacon of inspiration for her team.

Now, as the captain of the Moroccan national team, she is poised to make her long-awaited debut at a Women's World Cup, with a resolute focus on further elevating the status of women's football in Morocco.

With an impressive track record of ten Moroccan Championships and four instances of being crowned the Championship's top scorer, Chebbak's influence both at the club and international is unrivaled.

With 21 international goals to her name, the Moroccan captain will be eager to strengthen this tally in a bid to see Morocco progress past the group stages at this summer’s Women’s World Cup.
