The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will run from August 25 to September 10. The 19th edition of the men’s basketball World Cup will be held in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
This is the first time that multiple countries will host the basketball World Cup. A total of five venues across the three countries will be hosting the games. All matches of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 will be live streamed and can be seen in India**.**
The 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup is also a qualifying tournament for the Paris 2024 Olympics. The top two teams from the Americas and Europe (barring Paris 2024 hosts France who qualify automatically) and the top teams from Africa, Asia and Oceania will qualify for next year’s Summer Games.
A total of 32 teams, including basketball powerhouse USA, will compete for the title. Serbia, Australia, Japan, France, Italy, Brazil, Mexico, Greece and the People’s Republic of China are some of the other top teams in the fray. Spain are the defending champions while the USA and Yugoslavia are the most successful teams in the competition with five titles each.
The 32 national sides have been divided into eight groups of four teams each for the first round, where teams in each group will face each other in a single-legged round-robin format. The top two teams from each group move to the second round while the rest drop down to the 17th-32nd classification matches.

In the second round, the 16 teams will be further divided into four groups of four teams each. The top two from each group will make the quarter-finals. The final on September 10 will be played at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay, Philippines.
Some of the biggest basketball stars in the world, including Luka Doncic (Slovenia), Anthony Edwards (USA), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Canada), Karl Anthony Towns (Dominican Republic), Bogdan Bogdanovic (Serbia), Nikola Vucevic (Montenegro), Jordan Clarkson (Philippines), Kyle Anderson (China) and Jonas Valanciunas (Lithuania), will be in action in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
More than 50 NBA stars will be taking part in the tournament.
