After a day of thrills and breathtaking skills the round-robin stage of the European Games breaking competition has come to an end. Tomorrow (Tuesday 27 June) the knockout rounds will see two winners qualify directly for Paris 2024
The time has almost come for the continent’s top breakers to discover the first two European athletes to qualify for next year’s Olympic Games Paris 2024.
After the completion of the round-robin phase at the European Games 2023, the eight women’s and men’s quarterfinalists who will compete in Tuesday’s knockout rounds are known.
Portugal's Vanessa, Italy's Anti, Germany's Jilou, Netherlands' India, France's Syssy, Lithuania's Nicka, France's Senorita Carlota and Ukraine's Stefani in the women’s competition, and Ukraine's Kuyza, France's Dany, Poland's Wigor, Netherlands' Lee, Britain's Kid Karam, Netherlands' Menno, France's Lagaet and Austria's Lil Zoo in the men’s will each battle for a place in the semi-finals and finals, with the winner of both competitions earning a spot at next year’s Games in Paris.
Have no doubts about it - the stakes can’t get much higher than this.
Many of the favourites have made it through to the quarterfinal stage, including Netherlands B-Boy Menno and France’s B-Boy Dany Dann, as well as Lithuania’s B-Girl Nicka and Ukraine’s B-Girl Stefani.
However, there were some surprises as well, such as lawyer-turned-breaker XAK of Spain, who lost each of his battles to depart the competition before the knockout rounds.
Tomorrow sees the business end of the competition begin, with breakers having to win three consecutive battles to be crowned champion.
