• Swiss rider Marlen Reusser won the women's time trial, then jumped on a plane to Switzerland to drink champagne in first class (or at least that's what she told Olympic Channel!)
• Vasil Kiryienka put Minsk in party mode when he won the men's time trial
• Olympic champion Uladzislau Hancharou brought more joy to Belarus by winning men's trampoline

Good to see that success hasn't gone to the Belorussian's head.

We caught up with the Olympic champ and European Games trampoline gold medallist in the mixed zone.

After his Rio 2016 gold they put his face on a stamp, so we asked him where he wants his statue to be placed if he doubles down on his gold again in Tokyo.

"I would like a statue close to Christ the Redeemer in Rio made of gold. I don't care about the position as long as I don't have to pay for it!" he said.

Hanna Hancharova and Maryia Makharynskaya won gold for Belarus in the women's synchronised trampoline gymnastics conpetition, relive their amazing routine here:

19:04 - Russian wrestlers make moves on finals

Zaurbek Sidakov (74kg), Dauren Kurugliev (86kg) and Anzor Khizriev (125kg) all stormed their semi-finals and will grapple for gold at the European Games 2019.

Sidakov faces Turkey's Soner Demirtas in the final.

18:45pm - Shhh.. don't tell Lesik the Fox

The Games may have just found a couple of new mascots.

18:35 - Han the man!

Hancharou brings the house down by winning gold in the men's individual trampoline.

A spectacular showing that gave him 60.045 points and another gold for Belarus.

He had no choice really after his wife Hanna Hancharova won gold in the previous event.

Russia's Mikhail Melnik springs his way to silver with 59.435 and Portugal celebrate bronze, Diogo Ganchinho scoring 58.660.

18:14 - "A result that keeps me dreaming"

Nelson Oliviera won silver in the time trial behind hometown hero Vasil Kiryienka but it's a result that has him wanting more.

"A result that has me dreaming of more, thank you all for the great support," he posted online.

18:04 - Badminton: Defending champ marches on

Spain's Pablo Abian just made it 2 from 2 against Ireland's Nhat Nguyen.

The Baku 2015 European Games men's singles champ is out to defend his title and fly the flag in the absence of Olympic champ Carolina Marin.

17:25 - Belarus win trampoline sync gold

Hanna Hancharova and Maryia Makharynskaya win gold for Belarus in the women's synchronised trampoline gymnastics conpetition.

Their 50.230 score was better than the Ukraine pairing of Svitlana Malkova and Maryna Kyiko.

Bronze will be awarded to Russia's Irina Kundius and Yana Pavlova.

Pavlova would have hoped for more from these Games but that's trampoline for ya.

17:23pm - Germany are mixed doubles champions!

11-4, 11-4, 11-4!

Germany win the European Games and book their place at Tokyo 2020 where mixed doubles table tennis will be included at the Olympics for the first time ever.

17:14pm - Germany take second game

The Germans are in a hurry to get this final won.

They've just won game two 11-4, they won game one 11-4.

Romania are really not on their game, lots of unforced errors.

17:00 - Mixed Table tennis final: Tokyo 2020 qualification

Germany face Romania in the European Games mixed table tennis final but there's much more at stake.

Passage to Tokyo 2020.

The German pair Patrick Franziska and Petrissa Solja took a bronze medal home from last year's European Championships.

The Romanian duo of Bernadette Szocs and Ovidiu Ionescu have started strong, Szocs will want to erase the memory of her singles performance here.

She came into the tournament as No.1 seed and crashed out at the hands of Luxembourg's 55-year-old Ni Xia Lian.

Germany turn it around and win the first game!

16:45 - High flying Hancharou husband and wife up next

Olympic champ Uladzislau Hancharou will compete in the men's individual finals having qualified top in the preliminaries.

The local hero's wife Hanna Hancharova will compete first in the women's sync finals alongside Maryia Makharynskaya.

Excitement is building already.

16:08pm - No Chamizo, no Hollywood

We did mean to mention it earlier, but Cuban-Italian wrestler Frank Chamizo is out with a groin injury.

He posted this on social media: "Me and my Team decided not to attack this time. I’ve had a muscular strain because of all the effort I put during my preparation and I wouldn’t risk to hurt myself during the next match.

I wanna thank all my supporters, I’m sorry I won’t see you this time but I’ll be back soon, real soon!"

That's a shame because he always brings a bit of glitter to an occasion.

15:51 - Judo battle between Russia and Portugal

There's a storming contest going on in the mixed program contest at the Chizhovka Arena between Russia and Portugal.

Portugal were leading this contest 3-0 and Russia have turned it around ... To win! 4-3.

Russia's Musa Mogushkov slammed Jorge Fernandes deep into golden score - a clear ippon to complete a remarkable comeback.

The Portuguese team is distraught, they were so close.

15:33 - Beach soccer kicks off

Beach soccer kicked off today at the Olympic Sports Complex.

Switzerland beat Portugal 3-1, Spain topped Russia 5-4, with lots more to come in group matches.

There are 8 teams in two groups.

15:21 - Hancharou qualifies top in trampoline

Another athlete that Belarus has high hopes for just qualified in pole position.

Uladzislau Hancharou is hoping to raise the roof in the Minsk Arena later this evening, the men's final will happen at 20:05-20:30pm Minsk time, 18:05-18:30pm CET.

If you're in Minsk you'll see his face everywhere on the posters advertising the European Games, he's a hero after his Rio 2016 gold medal.

They even put him on a stamp!

Remember, many events carry qualification places for Tokyo 2020, or can at least help towards getting that golden ticket to Tokyo.

Legendary German table tennis player Timo Boll is battling Belorussian Vladimir Samsonov and a partisan crowd in the men's singles quarter finals.

It's currently honours even at 1 set each.

14:25 - Wrestling world No.1's crash out

Wrestling began today at the European Games and we've already had some top class clashes.

2018 74kg world champ Zaurbek Sidakov defeated world silver medallist Georgian Avtandil Kentchadze 5-3 in the quarter-finals.

The Russian had to dig deep to hold on to his 2 point advantage and will face Belarus’ Azamat Nurykau in the 74kg semifinal.

Rio bronze medallist Soner Demirtas was superior to junior world champ Khadzhimurad Gadzhiyez from Azerbaijan.

It was another close fight, the Turkish wrestler taking it 4-3.

Not such good news for Turkey at 57kg where world No.1 Suleyman Atli was stunned 6-5 by Serbia’s Stevan Micic.

The other shock of the day saw world No.1 Fatih Erdin outthought and outfought by local wrestler Ali Shabanau who’s ranked 8th in the world.

Vasil Kiryienka wins the men's time trial on home soil.

The Belorussian brought it home in 33:03.34, the locals are loving it here on a roasting hot Tuesday afternoon in Minsk.

Portugal's Nelson Oliviera is second, Jan Barta from the Czech Republic takes bronze.

Ireland's Ryan Mullen came agonizingly close to winning Ireland its first medal, he finished fourth.

13:20 - Mixed Team judo

Amazing atmosphere at the Chizhovka Arena in Minsk as Russia have just won the mixed team judo semi-final against Belarus.

A strong home support battled a strong Russian travelling legion in the stands but it was Russia who went through 4-2 on the mat.

13:17 - Time trial going down to the wire

Belarus still in the hot seat, Oliviera looked like he was going to put down a blistering time - he even lapped the Russian Nych who started before him - but just came up short with 33:31.82 - .30" behind Vasil Kiryienka's 33:03.34.

That time puts Nelson Oliviera into 2nd.

Jan Barta pips Ireland's Ryan Mullen by less than a second and goes into 3rd!

Barta finishes in 33:40.47.

That should be it.

Boxing will get underway soon, there will be quarter finals later today with finals on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

It was a mixed day for Great Britain yesterday (Monday June 24), this is a review from the Minsk 2019 page:

British boxers face contrasting fortunes on dramatic day in ring

It was a day of contrasting fortunes for Great Britain's much-lauded boxing squad at the Sports Palace Uruchie.

First up, Frazer CLARKE (GBR), seeded No.2 in the super heavy +91kg category, was eliminated in the 1/8 preliminary round, losing in a split decision 3-2.

Under immediate pressure from his opponent, Nelvie Raman Hess TIAFACK (GER), CLARKE took repeated heavy blows to the head in round one and continually looked for the clinch in order to stop the German’s relentless attacks.

TIAFACK continued to punish the British boxer with strong hooks to the head and body, forcing CLARKE to retreat and attempt to use his jab to score points.

It was a method doomed to failure with TIAFACK finishing strongly in the final round with another flurry of hooks to the body.

In sharp contrast, team-mate Pat McCORMACK, the top-seeded men's welter -69kg, looked in total control from the beginning against Pavel KAMANIN (EST). The man from Sunderland used his tenacity and an abundance of skill to ease past his Estonian opponent, finishing with a 5-0 win.

It was a display that even caught the eye of Baku 2015 gold medallist and Rio 2016 Olympic Games silver medallist Lorenzo SOTOMAYOR (AZE).

"Pat McCORMACK is a good fighter, he is strong, he is quickfire," the Cuban-born Azeri fighter said. "I think I fight him in the semi-final but I am going to do it, I'm going to win."

The confident champion is again looking good, treating fans in the arena to a display of mesmerising footwork and body feints combined with regular, clean shots. It was way too much for Adem FETAHOVIC (BIH), who went down 4-1. 

Should he get there, SOTOMAYOR will be fighting someone new in the gold medal match as Vincenzo MANGIACAPRE (ITA) - the fighter SOTOMAYOR beat in the final at Baku 2015 - was a shock loser in his 1/16 preliminary bout.

The Italian's flashy style was no match for the persistent pressure exerted by the ultra-aggressive Patriot BEHRAMI (KOS). The Kosovan simply would not let go and chased MANGIACAPRE relentlessly around the ring.

MANGIACAPRE and CLARKE were not the only big-name boxers to exit Minsk 2019 on a dramatic day, Rio 2016 Olympian and Baku 2015 bronze medal winnner Hamza TOUBA (GER) going down to Bulgaria's Daniel ASENOV in the men's fly -52kg division.

TOUBA started well, using his reach advantage to keep ASENOV at bay in the opening minutes while scoring points with an effective left jab. But once the 22-year-old Bulgarian, who enjoyed a storied junior career, worked out how to breach the German's defence it was all one-way traffic. ASENOV eventually ran out a 5-0 winner.

Boxing fans are in for another treat on Tuesday with a host of quarter-finals, including the men's middle -75kg clash between Oleksandr KHYZHNIAK (UKR) and Gleb BAKSHI (RUS), two fighters who share a style best described as relentless.

Irish supporters will also be out in force with their young star Regan DALY keen to build on his impressive 1/8 preliminary round victory over Russian Bator SAGALUEV. DALY takes on Spaniard Martin MOLINA SALVADOR in the men's light fly -49kg quarter-final.

Spain's double gold medallist Saul Carviotto is in the water today, there'll be heats and semi-finals today with finals tomorrow and Thursday.

12:33 - Vasil Kyrienka in the hot seat

Belarus holds its breath while Kyrienka holds his phone in the hot seat in Minsk.

His 33.03.34 time is still top of the table.

But Portugal's Nelson Oliviera and Czech rider Jan Bartra are still to come.

12:26 - Letizia Paternoster speaks to Olympic Channel

Italy's emerging cycling star Letizia Paternoster finished 12th in today’s time trial

She's only 19, but already has designs on world domination in both road and track.

At junior level the girl from Trentino won international medals on both road and on the track and since turning senior 2 years ago her career has taken off.

Her first European title came in 2017 as Italy secured team pursuit gold in Berlin, then there was bronze in the madison and team pursuit at the 2018 World Championships, and a year later she won silver in the omnium.

This season, she joined Olympic medallists Lizzie Deignan and Elisa Longo Borghini on the Trek-Segafredo team, and clinched her first road win as an elite rider at the Gran Premio della Liberazione.

We met her at the Athletes' Village in Minsk for a chat:

Letizia Paternoster: When I won my first junior world title, I realised that I could become what I’ve always been dreaming about as a kid. Every time I reached one of my targets, I gained more and more confidence and started to really believe in myself.

Olympic Channel: What are your dreams now?

LP: I now dream of winning important medals. My biggest dream is the Olympics, but I’m also chasing World titles.

OC: Once you told Gazzetta dello Sport: ‘I’m not a model, I’m a woman who can ride a bike fast’. How many prejudices are you still facing?

LP: Unfortunately still many people think that if you are a woman cyclist or a footballer you necessarily have to be ugly or having big legs…Of course we have bigger legs and everybody has a different body. I think I’m a ‘feminine’ girl and I’ll take it with me on the bike, I don’t change my way of being. I think the mentality is changing and I hope Italian women’s cycling continues in this direction.

12:06pm - 55-year-old table tennis player into semi finals

Luxembourg's Ni Xia Lian has beaten Sweden's Linda Bergstrom 4-1 in the table tennis quarter finals.

The 55-year-old veteran continues her fine run after she eliminated top-seed Bernadette Szocs yesterday.

12:00pm - Vasil Kyrienka leads time trial

The great local hope is still about a second ahead of Lithuanian Bagdonas, Ireland's Michael O'Loughlin is third.

11:20am - Table Tennis: 55 year-old ends top seed's tournament

There were tears in the table tennis tournament yesterday as top-seeded Bernadette Szocs (Romania) was stunned by Luzembourg’s veteran Ni Xia Lian 4-3.

Ni, 55, used all her experience after Szocs hauled 0-3 back to 3-3 but Ni closed out the final set 11-7 and had kind words for her country afterwards:

"Our country is a small country. We don't have many players so it's very important to make our people happy. So I do it for the team and for the country," she said.

31 years older than her opponent Szocs, Ni progressed through the 4th round match and is now in the quarter-finals.

Austrian second-seed Sofia Polcanova and Sweden’s Matilda Ekholm at No.3 had also failed to progress to the quarter-finals.

Polcanova lost 4-0 to 12th-seeded Han Ying (Germany) and Ekholm suffered a career-first defeat to Polina Mikhailova (RUS) in seven games. She was furious at herself afterwards.

"It's so damn bad. So damn, damn, damn bad," EKHOLM said.

"She played well, I missed a couple of balls that one isn't allowed to miss. I missed a serve to 8-10 (in the last set) but it doesn't matter that much it was just so damn bad, really. I guess I got a bit nervous in the end."

In the men's singles, reigning champion Dimitrij Ovtcharov from Germany also misses the quarter-finals as 10th-seeded Dane Jonathan Groth beat him 4-0, playing the table tennis of his career.

"I played probably the best game of my life. In the first two sets I played absolutely fantastic," Groth said.

Star player Timo Boll is up against home favourite Vladimir Samsonov in a quarter-final that will capture the local imagination.

Watch Ni in the quarter-finals between 1-3pm Minsk time, 11am-1pm CET with the men's quarter finals following, and the mixed doubles bronze and gold medal matches starting 7pm Minsk time, 5pm CET.

Women's road time trial winner Marlen Reusser is ecstatic at her win, but has to jump striaght on a plane home to race in the nationals.

She spoke to us after the race:

"It's very heavy this medal! In two hours I need to catch a plane!"

10:32 - Switzerland wins Cycling Road Time Trial!

A big surprise on the road as Switzerland's Marlen Reusser takes the time trial.

The 27-year-old raced to finish in 36:17.41 to take her first major title.

The Netherland's Chantal Blaak chased her to the line, finishing in 37:32.44.

Big effort from Hayley Simmonds (37:44.57) who took bronze just ahead of GBR teammate Alice Barnes (37:45.38).

That was a tough race in what feels like +30 degree heat and serious humidity.

10:21 - Cycling: Women's Time Trial underway

In an open field this time trial could be a chance for a young rider to make a name for themselves.

Look out for Italian Letizia Paternoster and Rio 2016 Road Race winner Anna Van Der Breggen - many see the Dutch flyer as favourite.

The route will take riders and viewers on a ride through the city streets of Minsk, it's a 14.3km route to be completed twice, so 28.6km in total.

What is the European Games?

The European Games is a multisport event that takes place every four years.

It doubles as European Championships in a number of sports and events, and counts towards Olympic qualifying in others.

The first event happened in Baku 2015, the second in Minsk, Belarus, and the third will be held in 2023 in the Polish city of Krakow and the Malopolska region.

At Minsk 2019, more than 4,000 athletes from 50 countries are taking part in the second European Gamesfrom 21 to 30 June 2019.

200 sets of medals will be awarded across 15 sports and 23 disciplines, with the action shown live on Olympic Channel (restrictions in certain countries and territories apply).

Four years ago, at the inaugural European Games in Baku, Russia topped the medal table (164) ahead of hosts Azerbaijan (56), and Great Britain (47).
