Felix Svensson (SWE) produced the top time in the first round of the men's 200m at the European Athletics Championships on Sunday (July 9) to lead all qualifiers into the semi-finals of the event.

The Swede won heat 3 with a time of 20.52, with Tomas Nemejc (CZE) and Erik Erlandsson (SWE) rounding out the top three with season-best times of 20.54 and 20.55, respectively.

The 12 fastest men from the heats will now compete in the 200m semi-finals on Sunday evening (scheduled to start at 21:39), where they will be joined the entered athletes who are in the top 12 of the "Road to Rome" list; these athletes qualified directly for the semi-finals by virtuate of their ranking.

Included in this group is the 2023 European Games 4X100m relay gold medallist Joshua Hartmann (GER) and Tokyo 2020 4x100m relay gold medallist Filippo Tortu (ITA).
