Live streaming, EuroHockey Championships 2023: Ticket for Paris Olympics on offer - where to watch

The EuroHockey Championships 2023 in Monchengladbach, Germany has reached its semi-final stage and the competition to secure a spot for the Paris 2024 Olympics is heating up.

The EuroHockey Championship 2023 is being held for men and women, simultaneously, with eight teams in the fray per gender. The tournament winners will join Olympic hosts France and the 2023 Oceania Cup-winning men’s and women’s Australian teams in making the cut for the 2024 Summer Games.

The women’s tournament started on August 18, a day before the men’s competition got underway.

In the women’s event, world champions Netherlands topped Group A and were followed by Belgium. The Netherlands and Belgium progressed to the semi-finals as the top two teams from the group. Similarly, Group B toppers Germany and runners-up England also advanced to the semi-finals.

On Thursday, England will brace for a challenge for world No. 1 Netherlands while hosts Germany will take on Belgium for a spot in the final. Both the Netherlands and Germany are unbeaten in the tournament so far.

The men’s semi-finals will be played on Friday. Belgium are pitted against the Netherlands and England will fight for a spot in the final against Germany.

Belgium progressed to the semi-finals as Group A toppers while England claimed the second spot. Hosts Germany topped Pool B followed by the Netherlands.

A total of 12 teams, in each of the men’s and women’s categories, will compete in hockey at the Olympic Games.

While the EuroHockey champions are set to get a direct entry at the Olympic Games, the teams finishing from second to sixth in the men’s competition and the teams classifying from second to seventh in the women’s event will get another opportunity through the FIH Hockey Olympic qualifiers next year.
