For Noah Lyles it's a golden homecoming. For Erriyon Knighton it's a shot at finishing atop the podium.

The American athletics all-stars are set to compete this weekend (16-17 September 2023) at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, this year held as the Diamond League Final.

Lyles races in front of U.S. fans on home soil for the first time since his double-gold win at the World Championships in Budapest, where he swept the 100m and 200m and became the first man to do so since Usain Bolt in 2015.

He toppled Knighton in an anticipated showdown in the 200m, his 19.52 outpacing the teen's 19.75.

But the two will not clash in Eugene, with Lyles set to headline the 100m and Knighton leading the field in the 200m.

Their respective races are crowded, however, with 2019 world champion Christian Coleman joining Lyles in the 100m on Saturday (16 September), while their fellow American Marvin Brady returns to the site of his 2022 world silver.

Also set to line up for the 100m is reigning world silver medallist Letsile Tebogo (Botswana) as well as Jamaican veteran Yohan Blake, the 2011 world champ and London 2012 silver medallist.

In the 200m, Knighton is joined by Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Andre De Grasse (Canada), Olympic and world (2022) silver medallist Kenneth Bednarek of the U.S. as well as Tebogo.
