Dominik Paris has suffered a season-ending injury on Tuesday while crashing in a Super-G training run near Kitzbuehel,Austria.

The Italian Super G world champion fell at a bend on the course, tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and fractured his fibula according to the Italian Skiing Federation.

"My season ends here," Paris said.

"Unfortunately while I was sliding the internal ski hit the snow too hard and the ligament broke. There's not a lot to add," the 30-year-old was quoted as saying.

"We'll assess what to do over the next few days, together with the medical staff."

Paris, who has already won the famous 'Streif' downhill in Kitzbuehel three times, was one of the favourites in this weekend's prestigious 'Streif' this coming Saturday.

He is second in the world downhill standings after his two recent wins in Bormeo.
