The diving competition at the Doha 2024 World Aquatics Championships will feature an exciting mix of Olympic and World champions, as well as up-and-coming stars in the sport.
The People’s Republic of China team will feature no fewer than six Olympic champs, while Great Britain have also brought an impressive roster of talent, headlined by Tom Daley.
At least 12 individual athletes and four teams will secure an Olympic quota at the Hamad Aquatic Centre (click here for more details), as well as bragging rights just months out from the Olympic Games Paris 2024.
Below, we take a closer look at the top athletes on show, a full schedule of events, and how to watch the action.
Diving athletes to watch at Doha 2024
China, as ever, will be the team to watch.
Olympic champions Quan Hongchan and Chen Yuxi are strong favourites to dominate the women’s 10m platform and 10m synchro events.
The men’s 3m springboard will see Xie Siyi and Wang Zongyuan clash, while seasoned veteran Cao Yuan is odds on to win the men’s 10m platform.
China’s sixth and final Olympic champion Zhang Jiaqi will compete in the mixed 10m synchro alongside 14-year-old star-in-the-making Huang Jianjie - the only non world-champion in the team.
Tom Daley and Jack Laugher in action
Team GB are bringing arguably their greatest-ever diving team to a world championships, in order to secure their missing Olympic quotas spots in the men’s 10m synchro, women’s 3m springboard, and men’s 3m springboard.
Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Tom Daley lines up in the men’s 10m platform synchro alongside Noah Williams, while Daley’s Olympic gold medal-winning partner Matty Lee will compete in the team event.
Rio 2016 Olympic champ Jack Laugher will likely compete in the men’s 3m springboard and synchro, while Andrea Spendolini-Sirieix and Louis Toulson will take some stopping in the women’s 10m synchro.
Elsewhere, Australia’s golden diver Cassiel Rousseau, who was the only non-Chinese athlete to win diving gold at the 2023 World Championships, will defend his title in the men’s 10m platform.
Finally, Mexican star Osmar Olvera, who won silver in the men’s 1 and 3-metre springboard events in 2003 is another athlete to keep an eye on.
