Daily routine: five things to do - 10 April 2020
With many of us staying home, Olympic Channel is giving you five things to do to stay active, stay positive, and stay healthy!
During these challenging times when so many people around the world are staying home to help fight the coronavirus outbreak, we're all looking for a bit of motivation.
We here at Olympic Channel are sharing inspiring and emotional moments to help us all stay safe, strong and healthy.
Here are five things for today, 10 April.
1. Work out
Don't forget to check out our #StayStrong, #StayActive minisite full of home workouts. Check out our curated playlists courtesy of Olympians.
Hannah Kearney, Vancouver 2010 moguls champion, is here to lead your daily dose of exercise.
You only need a chair for this so there's no excuses.
2. Catch up with the sports news
There's been a few developments in the sports world to tell you about.
The international governing body for basketball, FIBA, has announced that its Tokyo 2020 Olympic qualification tournaments will now take place from 22 June to 4 July 2021, pending approval from the IOC.
Germany's triathlon Olympic champion Jan Frodeno is doing an Ironman triathlon from his home in Girona, Spain, after a race in Bavaria he was meant to compete in was cancelled. This Saturday, Frodeno will swim nearly 4 km in his pool, cycle over 180 km, and run a marathon on his treadmill without even leaving the confines of his property.
Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz has donated food packages to people in her hometown of Zamboanga, Philippines. Diaz herself is stuck in lockdown in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, where she was training, but was able to run the initiative through her parents.
And finally, Pau Gasol has been speaking to the Olympic Channel about his thoughts on a fifth Olympic Games in Tokyo where he would be 41. You can read that interview here.
3. Watch
Have you watched our original series on Olympic Channel? If not, you're missing out.
We've got everything from feature-length documentaries, to themed series.
Today's pick is a question of human endeavour. Is It Possible? explores the boundaries of sport and what is achievable by an athlete in short, concise five-minute bites.
We would recommend watching all seven episodes, starting with Uno Shoma attempting to answer the question: Is It Possible for figure skaters to complete a quintuple jump?
4. Podcast
What better way to spend the time than to listen to motivating and inspiring stories told by Olympians?
You can do just that with our back collection of the Olympic Channel Podcast for you to catch up on.
Today's choice comes from last year, when host Ed Knowles caught up with Olympic pole vault champion Katerina Stefanidi.
5. Get involved on social media
Are you following the Olympic Channel on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube?
We're now on TikTok too!
Every week, we post our weekly social media round-up, The Lowdown, as well as interactive polls and questions on our social media channels.
Who knows, your suggestions for what historic Olympic event you'd like to see next on our channels might well come true.
