The podium for the Beijing 2022 figure skating team event is now set.
USA, Japan, and ROC are the medallists from the event after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissed an appeal filed by Canada on Friday (2 August).
The Canadian skaters who took part in the event, Skate Canada, and the Canadian Olympic Committee had appealed against a decision by the International Skating Union (ISU) to rank the final standings as USA, Japan, ROC after the disqualification of ROC skater Kamila Valieva.
However, a CAS statement said: "Following the hearing that took place on 22 July 2024, the Panel of CAS arbitrators in charge of the matter deliberated and concluded that the results of the Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva in the Olympic Figure Skating Team Event were correctly disqualified, without any possibility in the ISU Rules to re-allocate points in favour of Team Canada, following the retroactive disqualification of Kamila Valieva."
It means USA win gold on 65 points, Japan silver on 63 points, and ROC bronze on 54 points.
CAS had previously rejected a separate appeal by ROC appealing against the disqualification of Valieva's results, which dropped the ROC team from the gold medal position to bronze.
