Brazil defeated hosts Colombia 1-0 to clinch their eighth Copa America Feminina title, the main international women's football championship in South America.

It's the fourth South American crown in a row for La Seleçao, who finished the tournament unbeaten and with no goals conceded.

Debinha decided the match at the end of the first half: the Brazilian forward was fouled by Manuela Venegas inside the box and calmly dispatched the resulting penalty herself, scoring her fifth goal in the tournament.

Cheered by the home crowd at the Bucaramanga's Estadio Alfonso Lopez, Las Cafeteras forced the Brazilians into their own half for the second part of the game and came close to levelling the score in several occasions.

At the end of the match Colombian teenager Linda Caicedo was named MVP of the tournament.

By reaching the final, both sides had already earned their places at both the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup and the Women's Football Olympic Tournament.

Paris 2024 will represent the eighth Olympic participation for two-time silver medallists Brazil, and the third participation for Colombia.
