Great Britain’s Charlotte Bankes and Huw Nightingale won Great Britain’s first-ever snowboard cross mixed team world championships gold medal on Thursday (2 March).
Nightingale was just 0.07 seconds off the lead in Bakuriani, Georgia, when he handed over to Bankes, who became Britain's first-ever snowboard world champion with individual gold back in 2021.
The 27-year-old dominated the women's field to seal victory and redemption after she failed to defend that individual title on Wednesday.
"I can't quite believe it," she said after. "I don't know if it meant more than the singles two years ago, but after yesterday we came out.
"The conditions were tricky, but we had great boards and the team had belief in us. We saved out energy and did it today. Next step is to do the double next time."
For Nightingale, it was a dream World Championships debut.
"I can't believe it," the 21-year-old said after. "After yesterday when it was not so good for both of us, to put everything we had into it is amazing and unbelievable."
The British pair, who competed together at the Winter Olympics Beijing 2022, took the title just 0.88s ahead of silver medallists Jakob Dusek and Pia Zerkhold from Austria.
Merlin Surget and Chloe Trespeuch took bronze for France.
This is Great Britain's second world title in Georgia, following the historic achievement of Mia Brookes in the women's snowboard slopestyle event on Monday.
