BWF Madrid Spain Masters 2024: Loh Kean Yew safely into second round

Highest ranked men's player at the event comes through opening match unscathed.

Singapore's Loh Kean Yew needed just 22 minutes to wrap up an opening round win at the BWF Madrid Spain Masters 2024 on Wednesday (27 March).

The badminton tournament's second seed in men's singles beat Huang Yu Kai 21-8, 21-15 in the round of 32 match-up .

Loh will face Christo Popov of France in round two.

Earlier PV Sindhu booked her place in the second round of the women's singles with a 21-16, 21-12 win over Wen Yu Zhang of Canada. Sindhu is the highest remaining seed in the event after Spain's Carolina Marin withdrew on the eve of the tournament.
