Malaysian badminton star Lee Zii Jia will look to earn more Paris 2024 qualification ranking points this week when he returns to court at the BWF Super 500 tournament Kumamoto Masters Japan 2023 from 14-19 November.

The event will be broadcast live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and the official Olympics app for mobile devices (territorial restrictions may apply).

Having eventually opted to skip last week's Super 300 Korea Masters, 25-year-old Lee will look to build on his win at the Arctic Open and his final appearance at the Denmark Open which have helped him rise to number 11 in the world following a dip in form.

In the first round in Kumamoto, Lee will have to face the man immediately ahead of him in the rankings, Denmark's 10th-ranked Anders Antonsen. If he prevails, a likely tough test awaits against third seed Naraoka Kodai who would have vocal support from the home Japanese crowd.

World champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn is the other seed in Lee's quarter and could be a potential last-eight opponent.

The Kumamoto Masters Japan is one of the last World Tour events this season, with just the Super 750 China Masters and Super 300 India International remaining before the World Tour Finals in mid-December.

Players must be in the top eight of the seasonal Race to Finals ranking after the India International to qualify for the World Tour Finals. Lee is currently 11th, with the higher-scoring Kumamoto Masters Japan and the China Masters being his last two events. He is not scheduled to play in the India International.
