BWF Korea Open 2023: Loh Kean Yew advances to quarter-finals 

Singapore's star shuttler is through to the quarter-finals where he will face Ng Tze Yong. The Japanese top seeds Naraoka Kodai and Yamaguchi Akane are also through.

Loh Kean Yew is through to the quarter-finals at 2023 BWF Korea Open in Yeosu, Republic of Korea.

Singapore's badminton star defeated Zhao Junpeng (People's Republic of China) on Thursday (20 July) 21-19, 17-21, 21-6. 

After breezing past Malaysia's Leong Jun Hao 21-10, 21-14 in just 34 minutes in his opening match, the 2021 world champion was forced to go the distance on Thursday.

Loh needed 56 minutes to set up a quarter-final encounter with Malaysia's Ng Tze Yong.

Top seed Naraoka Kodai has also advanced defating India's Priyanshu Rajawat 21-14, 18-21, 21-17 while his Japanese teammate and former world no. 1 Momota Kento lost to China's Shi Yu Qi 21-16, 21-16.

In the women's draw, top seed Yamaguchi Akane (Japan) beat Malaysia's Kisona Selvaduray 20-22, 21-14, 21-14, second seed An Seyoung (Republic of Korea) ousted Putri Kusuma Wardani (Indonesia) 21-7, 21-12, and third seed Chen Yufei (China) dispatched Pai Yu Po (Chinese Taipei) 21-11, 21-12.
