Olympic badminton champion Viktor Axelsen added the Japan Open 2023 title to his haul, beating Indonesian star Jonatan Christie in the men's singles final on Sunday (30 July).
World number one Axelsen of Denmark - who recently retained his European title in Poland - won in straight games, 21-7, 21-18, live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com (territorial restrictions apply).
It's Axelsen's third BWF title of the year.
In the women’s singles, world number two An Se Young of the Republic of Korea claimed the title by beating world number five He Bing Jiao of the People's Republic of China, also without dropping a set. 21-15, 21-11 was the score.
It's a seventh title this season for the Korean.
Korea also enjoyed victory in the women's doubles through Kim So Yeong / Kong Hee Yong beating top seeds Chen Qing Chen from People's Republic of China 21-17, 21-14 in the final.
The men's doubles title went to Lee Yang and Wang Chi-Li of Chinese Taipei.
And Japanese fans had something to cheer about as Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino won the mixed doubles.
