Malaysian badminton star Lee Zii Jia will hope to get his season back on track this week at the Franch Open 2024, from 5-10 March.

More Paris 2024 qualification ranking points are at stake at the BWF World Tour Super 750 event, as the race to secure Olympic qualification heats up.

Lee is currently the men's singles World No. 10, and will be hoping to break into the top eight in order to improve his potential Olympic draw.

His first opponent at the 2024 French Open is Magnus Johannesen, whom the Malaysian beat 2-0 in their previous encounter at the 2023 German Open.

But things will get tricky from there with World No. 2 Shi Yu Qi a potential second-round opponent, while Danish World No. 3 Anders Antonsen and World No. 6 Naraoka Kodai of Japan are in the same half of the draw.

Lee's 2024 got off to a bad start with a first round elimination at the Malaysia Open. He rebounded with victories over Indonesia's Jonatan Christie at the India Open and Kidambi Srikanth of India at the Indonesia Masters in January, but disappointingly bowed out of the quarter-finals of both.

The 2022 Badminton Asia Championship winner also played his part to help Malaysia emerge second at the Asia Team Championships last month with three simple victories, including a notable win over world No. 11 Nishimoto Kenta.
