Lee Zii Jia is back in action on the badminton World Tour at the BWF Arctic Open 2023, after narrowly losing in a three-game thriller to H.S. Prannoy in the quarter-finals at the 2023 Asian Games.
The Malaysian star shuttler will face a qualifier in the first round in the men's singles draw in Vantaa, Finland for the tournament that takes place from 10-15 October, and is live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and the official Olympics app (territorial restrictions may apply).
Having suffered five first round exits on the BWF Tour this season, Lee will be hoping to earn crucial qualifying points for Paris 2024 at Arctic Open, to improve his chances of representing Malaysia in the French capital next year.
The first round of the men's singles event, taking place on Wednesday (11 October 2023) will see Lee Zii Jia face Mads Christophersen of Denmark, one of four shuttlers who won through the qualifying event.
In the second round, the world number 16 would meet either local Finish hero Kalle Koljonen or Chico Aura Dwi Wardoyo of Indonesia.
Should eighth seed Lee get through to the quarter-finals, he will most likely face Olympic champion and world number one Viktor Axelsen.
