Lee Zii Jia faced compatriot Leong Jun Hao in the quarter-finals at the BWF Arctic Open 2023.

Malaysia's badminton star Lee Zii Jia is into the semi-final at the BWF Arctic Open 2023 in Vantaa, Finland after compatriot Leong Jun Hao retired in the third game on Friday (13 October)., live on Olympic Channel via Olympics.com and the official Olympics app (territorial restrictions apply).

Lee won the opening set 21-16, but lost the second 19-21, before Leong retired in the decider at 11-7.

In the semi-finals, world number 14 will face third seeded Anders Antonsen of Denmark.

The other men's singles semi-final will be between Malaysia's Ng Tze Yong and Tsuneyama Kanta from Japan.

Elswhere, in women's singles, first seeded Tai Tzu Ying of Chinese Taipei lost to world number 12 Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand 19-21, 21-23. The Thai is due to meet Han Yue of People's Republic of China in the last four.
