Bayern Munich 6-1 Mainz 05

Die Roten displayed their intent in just the third game of the Bundesliga season when they beat Mainz 6-1 at the Allianz Arena in August.

Though they fell behind in the sixth minute, Bayern Munich new boys Benjamin Pavard and Ivan Perisic, on loan from Inter Milan, exchanged a goal and an assist each.

It also represented the first game where someone other than the prolific Robert Lewandowski scored for Bayern Munich in the season, though the Polish striker would go on to score a late goal.

David Alaba and youngsters Kingsley Coman and Alphonso Davies added the other goals to round off the win.

Bayern Munich 6-1 Werder Bremen

After a lean run in the Bundesliga where they had fallen to seventh, Bayern Munich bounced back with a big win 6-1 against Werder Bremen at home.

They found themselves down once again but new no. 10 Phillipe Coutinho, on loan from Barcelona, equalized on the stroke of half-time and went on to score a hat-trick.

The Brazilian also provided an assist for Robert Lewandowski, as Thomas Muller added the finishing touches to a resounding win.

Bayern Munich 4-0 Borussia Dortmund

The Bavarians turned up the heat against arguably their toughest opponents when they faced them for the first time in the 2019-20 Bundesliga season in November.

Coming off a 1-5 defeat against Eintracht Frankfurt, Robert Lewandowski gave Bayern Munich the lead in the 17th minute and went on to add one more in the second half.

Serge Gnabry scored one right after half-time and when Mats Hummels put one through his own net, Bayern Munich had resigned the Black and Yellows to a fourth loss in their last five Bundesliga encounters.

Bayern Munich’s best players in 2019/20

Robert Lewandowski

One of the first names on Bayern Munich’s team sheet, the Polish striker is undoubtedly the star in yet another title triumph for Die Roten.

Robert Lewandowski has scored 31 goals in the Bundesliga this season, and 45 overall, making it the most productive season of his storied career.

The 31-year-old also provided three assists to his teammates and is still chasing Gerd Muller’s record of 40 goals, set during the 1971/72 season for Bayern Munich.

Robert Lewandowski has now been a part of eight Bundesliga title wins this decade, his first two having come with Borussia Dortmund.

Serge Gnabry

In just his second season back with Bayern Munich, German youngster Serge Gnabry has proved to be an able attacking replacement for the long-serving Franck Ribery, who left for Fiorentina at the start of the season.

Capable of playing anywhere in the front three, the 24-year-old has used his rapid pace to great effect, mostly on the flanks, to score 12 goals and provide 10 assists for Bayern Munich in their title-winning season.

Thomas Muller

With 20 assists so far in 2019/20, Thomas Muller has set a new record for the most assists in a single Bundesliga season, surpassing Kevin de Bruyne’s 19 in 2014/15.

The 2014 World Cup winner, usually known for his immaculate positional sense to score goals, has displayed a new side to his game this season.

Thomas Muller has also scored seven goals of his own and may have found a new role to impress in in the coming years with Bayern Munich.

Alphonso Davies

The 19-year-old Canadian, who was voted Bayern Munich’s player of the month for May and Bundesliga rookie award in the same month, has adapted to the left-back role admirably.

Injuries to centre-backs Niklas Sule and Lucas Hernandez early in the season saw David Alaba shift in a more central role with Alphonso Davies, primarily a winger, take up the left-back role vacated by the Austrian.

Solid defensively, his dazzling overlapping runs shone through as he has contributed three goals and five assists in his 28 Bundesliga appearances this season.

Joshua Kimmich

Joshua Kimmich has been a vital cog in Bayern Munich’s possession-based style, consistently snuffing out dangers from opposition teams with his timely interventions whilst helping the team in transitions with his sensible passing.

The young German full-back, shifted to a defensive midfield role this season, leads both Bundesliga’s possession and distance covered leaderboards for the season whilst having a stunning passing accuracy of 91.7 per cent from open play.

He also proved to be a handful going forward, contributing three goals and seven assists.
