Olympic champion Mathilde Gremaud made a winning start to the 2023/24 World Cup freestyle ski season on home snow in Chur on Friday (20 October) although not in the way she would have wanted.
Switzerland's slopestyle gold medallist from Beijing 2022 finished top in Big Air qualification on Thursday (19 October) and, with poor weather forcing the Friday final to be cancelled, that ended up being enough for victory.
Tess Ledeux of France was second with PyeongChang 2018 slopestyle champion Sarah Hoefflin making it two Swiss skiers on the podium in third.
In the men's competition, Canada's Dylan Deschamps was awarded the win on just his third FIS Freski World Cup start.
Austria's Daniel Bacher, also on the podium for the first time, was second with Norway's reigning Olympic champion Birk Ruud taking third for his ninth consecutive World Cup top-three finish.
The Big Air Chur Festival was able to continue, despite the weather, with the snowboarders taking centre stage on Saturday.
