Italian youngster Jannik Sinner will face a formidable Daniil Medvedev in the Australian Open 2024 men’s singles final at the Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne Park on Sunday.
Irrespective of the result, it will be for the first time since 2014 that someone other than Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer will become the Australian Open champion in men’s singles. It is also the first time since 2005 that none of the Big Three of tennis will feature in the final at the season’s first Grand Slam.
Medvedev is currently ranked third, one place above Sinner in the ATP rankings. World No. 1 Djokovic was stunned by Sinner in the semi-finals while Medvedev got the better of Olympic champion Alexander Zverev of Germany in his last-four clash.
