Stefanos Tsitsipas is the only man who can now stop Novak Djokovic from winning a 10th singles title at the Australian Open, and a 22nd Grand Slam tennis trophy overall to equal Rafael Nadal's men's record.

Tsitsipas and Djokovic are seeded three and four at the first slam of the year, and will meet in the 2023 final on Sunday (29th January).

It'll be the 13th time the players have met in ATP matches, with Djokovic leading the head-to-head stats with 10 wins to Tsitsipas' 2.

Olympics.com looks ahead at what to expect in the final.

Novak Djokovic's route to the AO2023 final

Djokovic has never lost in the final or the semis at the Australian Open.

The 35-year-old maintained that record on Friday, beating USA's Tommy Paul in the last four in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1, 6-2, to book his spot in the trophy game.

The Serbian star, who has been concerned by an injury to his left leg, also set a new record of 27 straight wins at the AO, surpassing the 26 of his former coach, Andre Agassi.

2008 Olympic bronze medallist Djokovic marched past Andrey Rublev in the quarter-final 6-1, 6-2, 6-4, to reach his 10th semi-final at Melbourne Park and his 44th in any Grand Slam.

Djokovic is the current world number five but seeded fourth for the Melbourne event. In earlier rounds he dispatched home hope Alex de Minaur, Grigor Dimitrov, Enzo Couacaud, and Roberto Carballes Baena.

Greek third seed Tsitsipas, who was the top ranked player in the last four, is into the Australian Open final for the first time.

He overcame number 18 seed Karen Khachanov in the semis, 7-6, 6-4, 6-7, 6-3. Khachanov is an Olympic silver medallist from Tokyo 2020 in 2021, where he represented ROC.

Earlier Tsitsipas beat Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 7-6, 6-4 in the quarter-finals to qualify for his fourth semi-final at Melbourne.

The 24-year-old beat Jiri Lehecka, Jannick Sinner, Tallon Griekspoor, and Rinky Hijikata in the earlier rounds.

Tsitsipas has never won a singles Grand Slam title previously. Before this run to the Melbourne final his best performance in a slam had been to reach the final at the 2021 French Open, where he was beaten by... Novak Djokovic.

Tokyo 2020 Olympian Tsitsipas won the ATP Tour Finals title in 2019, and has 9 tournament trophy wins on the men's tour.
