Tennis is back on Down Under.
The Grand Slam season begins in full on 8 February, with the Australian Open pushed back from its normal mid-January start time as tournament and government officials arranged for players to safely arrive from around the world to nearly COVID-free Australia.
As many as 72 players endured two weeks of no practice in strict quarantine due to positive coronavirus cases on their flights (while others were allowed to safely practice), but with a week of warm-up events on 1 Feb., the best in the sport are set to compete for the coveted crown.
Eight-time champion Novak Djokovic looks to successfully defend his title, as American Sofia Kenin is the defending champion on the women’s side. Olympic champions Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and Venus Williams also feature, as do Osaka Naomi, Daniil Medvedev, Dominic Thiem, Ashleigh Barty and more.

United States
ESPN and Tennis Channel share the coverage, though the championship rounds of the singles – with commentary by greats like John McEnroe and Chris Evert – are found on ESPN.
Canada
TSN carries the AO for Canadian fans on the English-speaking side of things, while RDS broadcasts the tournament for the French-speaking Canadian population.
Great Britain
For fans in the U.K., the action lives on Eurosport.

Japan
Wowow will cover the tournament for Japanese fans, as Osaka (pictured above) goes for her fourth major title, having previously won the event in 2019. Rio 2016 bronze medallist Nishikori Kei is also a national hope for Japan.
