With two wins from as many matches, ATK Mohun Bagan have six points and are leading Group D. Bangladesh club Bashundhara Kings have four points with a win and a draw from their two matches so far.
The other two sides in Group D are out of contention. Bengaluru FC have a solitary point, having drawn against Bashundhara Kings and lost to ATK Mohun Bagan. Local side Maziya Sports and Recreation Club are at the bottom of Group D with two defeats.
Goals from Roy Krishna and Subhasish Bose had given the Mariners a 2-0 win over Bengaluru FC in their Group D opener.
ATK Mohun Bagan then defeated Maziya 3-1 on Saturday, with Liston Colaco, Roy Krishna and Manvir Singh all scoring in the second half. Maziya had taken the lead in the first half with a goal from Aisam Ibrahim.
New recruit Hugo Boumous and David Williams have added sting to the ATK Mohun Bagan attack while Boumous has been particularly impressive on debut against Bengaluru FC.
After the win over Maziya, ATK Mohun Bagan head coach Antonio Lopez had said that the Mariners had not been looking for a draw and that would remain their approach against Bashundhara Kings too.
The Group D topper will take on the winner of the Central Asia zonal final in the inter-zone semi-finals on September 22.
