Asian Games 2023 rowing: India’s results and medal winners

A total of 29 Indian rowers competed in 10 categories at Hangzhou 2023 and won five medals - two silver and three bronze. Get results and list of winners.

Rowing events at the Asian Games 2023 were held from September 20 to 25 at the Fuyang Water Sports Centre in Hangzhou, the People’s Republic of China. India sent a 29-member rowing squad and four substitutes for Hangzhou 2023.

Tokyo Olympians Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh were the big names in the Indian rowing contingent to Hangzhou. The duo didn't disappoint and won the silver in the men’s lightweight double scull event to win India's first medal at the Hangzhou 2023.

Jaswinder Singh, an Asian Rowing Championships 2022 bronze medalist, was also part of India's medal-winning men's coxless four and coxed eight teams. India won a total of five medals - two silver and three bronze - in rowing at the Asian Games 2023, with the men's team accounting for all of these.

Medals were on offer in 14 rowing categories, seven per gender, at the 2023 Asian Games.

Competitions were held in the men’s coxed eight (M8+), men’s coxless four (M4-), men’s coxless pair (M2-), men’s double scull (M2X), men’s lightweight double scull (LM2X), men’s quadruple scull (M4X), men’s single scull (M1X), women’s coxed eight (W8+), women’s coxless four (W4-), women’s lightweight double scull (LW2X), women’s coxless pair (W2-), women’s double scull (W2X), women’s quadruple scull (W4X), women’s single scull (W1X) events.

Barring women’s coxless pair, double scull, quadruple scull and single scull, Indian rowers competed in the remaining 10 categories.

Heading into Hangzhou 2023, India had won 23 medals - two gold, five silver and 16 bronze - in rowing competitions at the Asian Games. At the last edition, Jakarta 2018, Indian rowers bagged one gold and two bronze.
