The 16 winners from the Round of 32 enter the winners’ bracket and play each other until a winner from the bracket is determined after the winners’ bracket final.
The 16 losing teams from the Round of 32, meanwhile, start off the losers’ bracket.
The losers from each round of the winners’ bracket will keep dropping down to the losers’ bracket in every other round (2, 4 and 6) to play against the teams progressing from earlier rounds. The loser of the winners’ bracket final and the winner of the losers’ bracket round 7 will meet in the losers’ bracket final.
The losing team from the losers’ bracket final will clinch the bronze medal while the winner will go on to meet the eventual winner of the winners’ bracket in the grand final for the gold medal.
