The 19th Asian Games Hangzhou are over for Loh Kean Yew.

Singapore's badminton star never found his rhythm against Malaysia's Ng Tze Yong and lost 21-12, 21-14 on Tuesday (3 October).

Loh committed too many errors in their round-of-32 match and was playing catch-up pretty much the entire time.

The 2021 world champion left the court visibly disappointed. Hangzhou 2023 did not go the way he had hoped.

Singapore's team event run already ended at the first hurdle when the squad was ousted by eventual semi-finalists Japan with Loh beaten by Nishimoto Kenta in a three-game marathon.

Loh needs now to regroup ahead of the Denmark Open (17 - 22 October), which currently is the next tournament he is entered to play.
